AML & Compliance

Last updated: 1 June 2026

Express Remit Inc. is committed to preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crime. As a regulated Canadian money services business, we maintain a compliance program designed to meet our obligations under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act and FINTRAC regulations.

1. Registration

Express Remit Inc. is registered as a money services business with FINTRAC, registration number C100000062, and as a payment service provider with the Bank of Canada under the Retail Payment Activities Act. Registration is not an endorsement and does not constitute a licence; it reflects that we are subject to, and operate within, Canada's regulatory framework.

2. Know your customer

Before and during a business relationship, we verify the identity of our customers using reliable, independent information. Depending on the product and risk, this may include collecting identification, confirming the source of funds, and understanding the purpose of transactions. For business clients, we identify beneficial owners and the nature of the business.

3. Transaction monitoring & reporting

We monitor activity for unusual or suspicious patterns. Where required, we report to FINTRAC — including suspicious transaction reports, large cash transaction reports, large virtual currency transaction reports, and electronic funds transfer reports — in accordance with applicable thresholds and rules. We do not disclose to a customer that a suspicious transaction report has been or may be filed.

4. Sanctions screening

We screen customers and transactions against applicable Canadian sanctions and terrorist-listing measures. We do not process transactions that would breach sanctions, and we may freeze or decline activity and report it where the law requires.

5. Record keeping

We keep the records required by law, including identity and transaction records, for the minimum periods set out in FINTRAC regulations — generally at least five years. These records support our reporting obligations and may be made available to regulators on request.

6. Our compliance program

Our program follows the elements expected of a Canadian money services business:

7. What we ask of you

To help us keep the service safe and compliant, we ask that you provide accurate information, respond promptly to verification requests, send only funds you are entitled to send, and use the service only for lawful purposes. Detailed compliance policies are available to partners and institutional clients on request.
